Handmade Wreaths

My mother has a knack for hand-made wreaths which I have shared in various posts. However, I haven't ever shown her Christmas work! This year, I wanted to make my boss and his wife a Christmas wreath for their home. Below, you will see my sparkly silver, white, and green wreath Mom gave to us a few years ago. Every winter, it hangs on our front door welcoming friends and family alike.
To make one of these gorgeous wreaths, you will need to start with a grapevine wreath - I generally purchase mine at JoAnn's. Make sure to use a coupon as they rarely go on sale! You will also need a hot glue gun, ribbon, silk flowers, and other holiday adornments like pine cones, glittery "things", etc.
Start with your base layer and make sure the stems are firmly placed in the wreath. Hold off on the hot glue gun until everything is in place and you are satisfied with your work. From watching my mom, the base layer might not always be seen, so make sure it is more "filler" than anything.
Slowly, start adding the fun stuff - poinsettias, berries, ferns, whatever you might have in your bag of tricks. Seriously, my mom has bins and bins of this kind of stuff!
I love the gold in this wreath!
Once you are satisfied with the placement of all your greenery, flowers, and accents - bust out the hot glue gun. Some pieces may need to be removed, the stem covered in hot glue, and then re-inserted back into the wreath. You'll want to tug on each piece to make sure it is secure. Next, ribbon! Not every wreath needs ribbon and it can be done in many ways. Rather than a bow, we went with several strategically placed pieces of ribbon on this wreath.
This is the wreath hanging on the inside of my house all ready to be gifted!
All gifts need a tag - and this was one of my first projects with my new Cricut. When Chad and I were in Eugene for the Oregon/USC game, Beth gave me a Cricut with a few cartridges and it has been awesome! Thank you so much Beth!!
The wreath is now hanging above the mantle at my boss' house and I must say, it looks fantastic! They love it and it matches their holiday decor perfectly. Thank you Mom for all your help :) Hope you enjoyed this little tutorial!

I have my two wreaths up that your mom made me a few years ago. (we
traded for pillows) I love both of them and I don't have to replace
them every year!

Your project is wonderful and I know you boss will enjoy it for a long time!
