Christmas Tree Hunt: 2011

Who knew tree hunting could be such an adventure? Chad and I have gone on a "tree hunt" every year since we have been married to find the perfect Christmas tree. Chad cuts, I observe. A couple days before we left on our all-day tree hunting extravaganza, we were talking with some other friends and they were going too! Obviously, we joined forces and went together! Justin and Courtney came with us on their very first Eastern Oregon tree hunt and I would say they were naturals.

With six rigs (vehicles), 18 people, a few saws, one chainsaw, and a lot of beer - we managed to cut down enough trees for our crew and a few family members who didn't make the trip. Once all the trees were down and tucked away in the correct pickup, we stopped and had a fire complete with chili and cornbread. Really, what more could you ask for?

We had more fun than we bargained for and I just wish a little of that snow would come our way for Christmas! I climbed up to the top of a hill near the road and slid down on my butt - just because I was so excited to see snow! Next year, Courtney and I are wearing snowboots - but other than that we stayed pretty warm. Chad, Justin, Courtney, and I ended up playing Pitch (card game) until the wee hours of the morning and let me tell you, that made for one rough Monday morning!

Totally worth it.

I've never cut down my own tree before. You make it sound like so much fun! When I move back to Oregon I'm definitely going to do it.

That's amazing oh how I wish I were you. To be back home in the snow would be brill. Cali may not be Brighton, England but it'll do.
