I went to the Produce Marketing Association Fresh Summit Convention in Atlanta, Georgia for three days to represent both Snake River Produce and the Idaho Eastern Oregon Onion Committee (IEO). Three days including travel always ends up being an exhausting trip, but it was well worth it - I was able to make contact with many of our customers and have a little fun too! As always, the IEO booth had "Jumbo" the mascot in addition to America's Next Top Model's Chelsey Hersley representing our growing/packing/shipping region.
As soon as I got back from Georgia Sunday night, I had to start preparing for our trip to Indianapolis. You see, Chad had an FFA team (Farm Business Management) qualify for Nationals and we left Tuesday mid-day. Chad and I took ten high school students to Indianapolis, IN for five days. It was fun, entertaining, educational, inspiring, and definitely exhausting. Our schedule was jam-packed, which was a good thing because it kept the kids from getting into any trouble! Aside from sessions and competitions, we attended leadership seminars, an FFA specific trade show, and visited a few pretty fun tourist destinations. We went to the Indianapolis Zoo, Churchill Downs (where the Kentucky Derby runs), the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, and even the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
