Holiday Ornament Wreath Tutorial

We've all seen them - those really awesome wreaths made of holiday ornaments. I have always wondered how they do it - but I have unlocked the secret and am ready to share with you! It is super easy, inexpensive, fun, and even if you don't consider yourself a "crafter", you can totally do it.

Tools of the Trade:
*Ornaments - you can create a wreath with any combination of sizes/colors/finishes
*Wire hanger
*Hot glue gun/glue sticks
*Wire cutters/pliers
*Ribbon
Since I didn't really know what I was doing when I started this project, I went down to the local thrift store and bought a variety of ornaments. Really though, in our small town, it is probably the only place to buy ornaments! I opted for the "shatter proof" ornaments which was definitely a good idea. Once home, I removed the wire hooks and sorted the ornaments by color and size. I then shaped my hanger into a circle and used my pliers to unwrap the hanger to create an opening.
This is when you should do as I say, not as I do. To make sure I had the right combination of ornaments, I then started putting them on the hanger. The problem was, I needed to do a little hot-glue gun action beforehand. The balls started popping off the hanger from the tension! Remember - glue those suckers together before you put them on the hanger!
Just a dab of hot glue to seal the ball to the top part of the ornament. I removed the top, dabbed a bit of glue on there, and then pressed the top back on.
After letting the ornaments dry, I re-strung them on the hanger, wrapped the tail of the hanger back around to secure the wreath. This may take a bit of muscle and your pliers depending on how many ornaments you have. I had to remove a few to make it work.

Lastly, add a beautiful bow to cover the top of the hanger and voila! Easy, fun, and festive!
Ours is hung inside the house, but I am sure it would hold up outdoors as well. Next time, I think I will select ornaments that are all the same size to have a bit more consistency with the edges of the wreath. Try it! Let me know how it goes!
