After reading several tutorials online and the directions on the back of the Martha Stewart glaze can, I just went for it. I poured way too much black paint and way too much glaze into a plastic plate, covered the dining room table with newspaper, and grabbed an old rag and a bristly paint brush and started.
Now you see why I said way too much. I have learned that a little paint/glaze mixture goes a long way and this was overkill for a small 8x10 frame!
I dipped my brush, then tried to get some of the excess off - but I didn't do a very good job at that. I then started covering the frame with glaze/paint. I wasn't sure how fast it would dry, so I only did half when I put the paintbrush down and went for the rag. Be prepared, you will get your hands dirty in this process - or at least I did! Start wiping the glaze/paint off. I was concerned with leaving too much or too little, but I suppose how much color you leave is up to you and your personal preference.
After the first half of the frame had been glazed and cleaned...
I repeated the process with the other half of the frame and made sure to hit the edges and any spots I thought needed a little extra oomph! Final result is below! I am excited about how well the glazing process worked and honestly how easy it was!
Not sure what I am going to do with the frame - it is still sitting on the dining room table. It's a good conversation piece :) I could turn it into another earring frame or use it to frame another one of Chad's hunting pictures... or not!
