He started talking about how he wanted to get large images of his Africa trophies framed and up on the walls in the house. I took a deep breath and listened. As he talked, I tried not to laugh as he discussed how he used to have 11x14 posters of his goose hunting adventures on the walls in his fraternity room (seriously... his fraternity room) and how cool it looked. I am pretty sure he then walked up to our framed engagement portrait and said, "something like this, but bigger". Then he started talking about his grandparent's living room which is literally covered in 8x10 photos from various fishing, hunting, and other outdoor adventures. Now, don't get me wrong, I love Nellie and wish Dick were still here to tell his hunting and fishing tales, but I believe in a little white space on the walls - or creamy yellow in my case.
So - we're doing it my way. I have ordered various sizes of his favorite Africa trophy images in black and white and have found some stellar frames during my thrifting adventures. My plan is to paint all the frames black, buy glass to fit each frame (it is surprisingly cheap) and hang them in a collage/group/something like that sort of fashion.
Since we're on the topic - did I tell you what Chad bought me for my birthday? Even after I gave him multiple suggestions, I got a gun. I promise you, I didn't even hint that I wanted a gun. The best (or worst) part is - I shoot left handed, and it is a right handed gun. He knows I shoot left handed. You want to know why he bought it for me? It was his Grandpa Dick's gun and he wanted it to stay in the family - and he couldn't find any left handed guns, so he thought this would be the next best thing. Mostly, he bought it for himself - he asked if he could take it to Africa - I said no. And according to him, "our future children will not be left-eye dominant". Roscoe totally is left-eye dominant.
I will tell you this - Chad was really close to getting a ceiling fan for his birthday, because - well, maybe I couldn't find the right picture frames and I thought our future house would look better with a newer ceiling fan. Also thought of getting him a new Coach bag, some jewelry, you know - stuff that I would like! Enough of my rant. You have to admit, it is pretty funny and he totally got roasted by my family when they heard about it.
Anyway, I hope to get the rest of the prints soon - painting of the frames will probably start tomorrow. More pictures to come!

Oh Tiff--you CRACK me up! For my birthday, I have gotten every electronic gadget and scuba diving trip that Chris ever dreamed of. I don't even know where most of my "gadgets' are--like the Nikon I have never used, etc etc.
I would definitely take a scuba diving trip - minus the scuba diving for a bday gift (went diving in Hawaii and I totally freaked out) over a gun! Guys are so oblivious... I got a bow for my birthday a couple years ago. I hope he eventually learns his wants aren't necessarily mine when it comes to birthdays! :)
I cracked up over the ceiling fan idea......
My first "trip" was a trip to the Tuomotu Achipeligo. I couldn't even pronounce it. I also wasn't a diver. I did end up learning to dive and LOVE it. It was a magical trip but very very VERY expensive and we had David just out of college, Slocum being built and Ally gearing up for college. I was like--"do you know how much money you DON'T have??? Do you EVER want to retire????"
Heading over to check out the KKG progress. We have a new house mom. I wasn't around for the interviewing. I hope she works out.
NICE!
