"I use antlers in all of my decorating!"

How do you decorate around horns? I think I have about a year to figure that one out. Chad recently got home from his safari in South Africa and he did well to say the least! In the past couple years, Chad has mounted an elk (European) and antelope (shoulder) in our house. And he currently has a turkey at the taxidermist (I am not thrilled about that one). Basically, our wall space has filled up fast and with low ceilings, we don't have a ton of room for big bad mounts anyway.

I have been searching for inspiration for the "Man Cave" area (of my dream home, of course) lately and have found some great antler, horn, hide, and mount ideas! What are your suggestions for decorating with an outdoorsman in the home? I really don't want it to be too "I use antlers in all my decorating!" per Gaston of Beauty and the Beast (see above). Here is a bit of inspiration...via

According to Chad, it takes about six months to a year to get his hides/horns back from Africa and then it will take additional time to get them mounted. We have time to plan! Here are the trophies he managed to take while hunting:

Blue Wildebeast
Gemsbok
Impala
Blesbok
Zebra
Warthog
Kudu
My boss has offered up the conference room at our office for temporary storage of the mounts until we can either find room in our current space, or sell our dang house and build my dream home. Let's hope for the dream home with lots of wall space and super tall ceilings, shall we?

I love the zebra rug in the picture. The zebra rug could totally find a home in your living room and fit your decor right now. Please tell me though that you are NOT going to hang up the warthog!

Haha, no warthog in this house - how about that? In the "dream home man cave", maybe we can hide it in the corner? I agree - the zebra rug is going to be awesome!!
