Greg's Home Makeover: Reveal! Part 2

Ever watch those shows on HGTV when they are counting down the minutes and seconds before time is up? That was us last Thursday. Mom and Rachel were working so it was up to Alisha and I to put everything back together and we thought we would have "plenty of time"... ha! Notsomuch!

With Matthew, Peter, & Willy helping us we did get almost everything done! Mom came by once she was finished at work and ran a few urgent errands and brought milkshakes - a must on a hot day. It was a good thing I didn't have to pick up the guys from the airport because we needed all hands on deck working to get everything ready for the big reveal!

Here you will see Alisha and Peter working hard. At this point, the two walls shown were blue - the main color in the living areas is now a sandstone gray - we painted an accent wall green because the white fireplace blended into the gray too much. Greg's entertainment center was built for a larger big screen - as in the gigantic projector big screens. You can see the television was on the floor in some of the "before" shots. So... Alisha and I (with drill and level in hand) made new holes, lowered a shelf, and improved the entertainment center! To be honest, I was a little concerned with that project, but it worked perfectly!
This is how I felt.
Again, the back wall was blue - and the other walls were white (other than the fireplace wall). New light fixture and pillows courtesy of Mom. Alisha refinished that cute bench for the entryway and Mom and I found that moose print months ago - but didn't buy it. I finally bit the bullet and decided it was necessary for the house and I love it!
New paint, awesome mirror, (old) new to Greg lamp, refinished bookshelf, spraypainted frames, and free recliner! My boss just got new furniture and was looking for a home or donation center to send two greenish La-Z-Boy recliners to. He offered them to me for this project and I gladly accepted. They are perfect and really comfy! Greg's blue recliner just wasn't going to mesh with the new space and colors so it has been moved to his office.
It is amazing what some elbow grease can do! Fresh coat of paint, new curtain (made by Alisha), a lot of cleaning, and a new rug make the kitchen much cozier :)
New curtains, paint, two refinished stools, and just a peek of the dining room set that consumed my life for about ten days!
Another shot of the living room complete with the perfect rug Alisha found, coffee table, coasters (trust us - Greg needed them!), and many other accessories found by Mom, Alisha, and I along the way!
Another shot of the living room/entryway.
Now, I realize this is a terrible shot of the table and chairs, but it is all I have - and I want to share. The table and chairs turned out awesome and Greg seems to really like the green (thank goodness)!
More of the living room - one of the projects that did not get completed in time was the second set of curtains. They are there, we just need to put them up!
Thank you for following us on this adventure! It was a great experience, but I must tell you - I am glad we are done! Until next time :) If you are ever thinking about refinishing furniture, check out All Things Thrifty and Brooke's tutorials on Spraypaint and Painting Furniture. You will be glad you did! Great recap Tiff. I too am glad that it is finished, but it was totally worth all of the time and effort.
I am not sure though what kind of mother would allow their baby to fall asleep in a walker!

Mom said you guys were busy but I had no idea! It looks great! And I understand the hours of work that must have actually gone into it.
I'm sure he was thrilled.
