A little over a year ago, I spotted this beauty at one of the local thrift stores and thought to myself... Greg (brother) needs a coffee table! Immediately I decided the table needed to come home with me as it has a pretty solid structure and I was certain I could make it much more beautiful - er... manly. I told Greg about it and said I would get it to him in a couple weeks... months... year and some months? Oops - it did make an awfully nice saddle rack in the garage though. Friday was gorgeous and once I got out of the office I got to work.
This is the coffee table before - Roscoe says hi - by the way.

After sanding all the sliver-givers and rough edges.

A couple coats of primer later...

By the way, I have started using
KILZ primer in a spray can and it is a life and time-saver. Can you fall in love with a primer? I think I may have! And don't judge me for spray painting in the yard - Chad mowed it and the white is gone. It was easier than digging around for all my drop cloths and other painting supplies. Now for a bit more sanding and
COLOR! Greg thinks black, what do you think?

And
these are my award-winning daffodils - best on the block. Award winning, you say? Yes, they are the only daffodils on the block so they win by default. Don't mind the chipping red paint in the background, Chad and I are all over that curb appeal project as soon as we have some consistent decent weather. I've done some scraping and cleaning, but we need to prime and paint! Come on sunshine! It might snow tomorrow so I am not holding my breath.

You are so ambitious! I like black! Tell Rosco hello back! Flowers, gravel and red paint all look great!
Tiffany! You are so impressive! And yes, GOOD find on that table!!!!!!!! If Greg didn't need a coffee table, it would make a great outdoor patio table with the right finish! WHAT A GREAT FIND! I can't wait to see the final out come, I think Black would be good!
LOVE IT!
Love you!

this is a great table. To be honest, it looked pretty nice when you just sanded it. I would have refinished it like that ;) Looking forward to seeing what you pick!
Thanks for the input!
@Ashly - I agree, I seriously considered rubbing on a great stain to bring out all the detail in the wood but that isn't what Greg wanted .... so on went the primer!
love what you did with that table!
